Professional Certificate of Competency in Compliance

Introduction

In an ever more demanding regulatory environment, the Compliance Officer not only needs in-depth knowledge but also a flexible and well balanced know-how. In order to set up a solid and reliable framework aiming at professionalising the function of Compliance Officer, IFBL and ALCO (Association of Luxembourg Compliance Officers for the Financial Sector) jointly developed a complete training programme based on the principle of modular course units, tests and the validation of the professional knowledge on different levels. This pragmatic programme takes into account all aspects and challenges of the function, both on a local and on the international level.

Structure and contents

The training programme constists of three consecutive modules, taught by experts confirmed by ALCO:

M1 Compliance (EN)

M2 Compliance (EN)

M3 Compliance (EN)

Please note that the registration for the M3 module (and thus to the final assessment granting the certification) is submitted to the following conditions: having passed the M1 and M2 module examens and benefit from a professional experience of 2 years at least in the field of Compliance.

In order to allow Compliance Officers to update their qualification according to the constant evolutions of the regulatory environment, a number of training courses and/or short conferences on topical issues will be regularly offered. They will be announced by separate mailing.

Audience and objectives

Every person wishing to acquire basic knowledge in the field of Compliance can register without prerequisites for the introduction module M1. The registration for the M2 module is submitted to the successfull passing of the M1 exam.
The Professional Certificate of Competency in Compliance (M3 module including assessment) is only open for candidates with a professional experience of at least two or three years in the field of Compliance and having completed the M1 and M2 levels. Interested participants are required to send in their detailed CV stating their educational/academic background as well as their professional experience. Admission to the M3 course is granted on the basis of the information submitted by the participant.

Exams

Knowledge acquired in the first two modules can be validated by a written exam. The master course M3 is validated by an assessment requiring participants to present a practical case to a jury.
